This project is the conversion of a former 1970s office building into student accommodation. An additional floor has been added to create a total of 66 individual suites in a mix of single, double and accessible rooms. A communal lounge, gym, laundry and other facilities are accommodated at ground level.
The building was stripped back to the concrete frame and the front and rear facades reclad in red brick and upgraded to provide acceptable acoustic levels in this busy city centre location.
The design of the front façade has a repetitive fenestration module in a grid pattern and which uses red & yellow coloured panels to reinforce the new character of this building.
The rear of the building backs onto Central Railway Station, Platform 1, and the works were carried out in strict accordance with the Health & Safety requirements of the Railway Authority.
