East Millichen Farm Residential Development

Glasgow

Following closure and sale of the Farm, the defunct collection of farm sheds and dilapidated outbuildings were earmarked as a potential residential development opportunity. Sitting just within the northern boundary of Glasgow City Council area just off Balmore Road, it would offer rural style living in close proximity to the city.

Care was taken to utilise the existing building footprints as much as possible to make use of the brownfield areas and reduce development of greenfield. As such, a proposal for 11 modern family dwellings was submitted to Glasgow planning and subsequently approved. The homes are of a rural typology with white wet-dash render, slate roofs but with contemporary selected features. The existing farmhouse building was retained and fully refurbished to a modern standard.

Convery Prenty Shields took care to preserve some aspects of the farm layout, with plots arranged to offer a common courtyard feel, with best use of the south and western views across the rolling farmlands. Access routes and amenity spaces were carefully designed with natural stone and rendered walls used to guide residents and visitors through the site.

The development was successfully completed in 2025.
