Castlehill Farm Steading Conversion
Bearsden, Glasgow
The site, historically known as Castlehill Farm Steading, is nestled between urban development to the East, and farmland to the West. The development site is adjacent to the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site which required careful consideration and detailing at all stages of the design progression.
The steading currently lays disused in a semi-ruinous state and the proposed development aims to revitilise this site, working with the existing and historic structures, footprint, forms, and materials to provide a contemporary development of dwellings. 11nr 3 bedroom dwellings are proposed, blending historic and contemporary features, and, at the same time, retaining the traditional character and rural aesthetic of the site.
CPS worked closely with East Dunbartonshire Council to ensure the preservation of the nearby Heritage Site while revitalizing this prominent edge of Bearsden.
