Acre Point Residential Development
Glasgow
Acre Point is a residential development located north of Glasgow in the Maryhill area of the city. On the site stands the existing 19th century Grade C listed Acre House and associated stables building. The house was built around 1860 as a private residence in the Gairbraid Estate, and was also home to a convent of nuns in the past. The most recent building use was student accommodation for Glasgow University but the structure has sadly been empty since 2004 suffering from break-in, vandalism and several major fires.
The Acre Point residential development has the ambitious goal of revitalizing and returning to the city a site that, overtime, has been cut off from the surrounding areas. It will provide 64 modern apartments in 4 newly built flatted building as well as 5 houses reusing and restoring the existing buildings. The proposal includes woodland open spaces and pathways to enhance the connectivity and permeability of the site. With a blend of high quality homes and green amenities, this residential development aims to be an important contribution to the character of the area.
Convery Prenty Shields were appointed to carry out the technical design of the development and continue to support the developer and contractor as the works progress on site.
