St Andrews Court Building

Glasgow

This late 19th Century building is located within the Glasgow Centre Conservation Area and has been previously used as a residential hostel, a Police Headquarters and then a Justice of the Peace and Stipendiary Magistrates Court Building, until its closure in 2012. In 2013 the building was converted to student accommodation. An efficient design solution provides a total of 122 individual suites created over 4 floors with communal lounges, gym, cinema room, games room, and laundry facilities.

Despite its age the building is structurally sound and only required minimal intervention to improve thermal and acoustic standards. The external fabric of the building has been repaired and restored with minimal changes, and the development makes a positive contribution to the immediate area by creating a sustainable ongoing use for a well-known building. The completed development adds to the successful ongoing regeneration of this part of the City of Glasgow.
